After months of stitching and planning it’s finally time to launch our first set of kid embroidery patterns! And, I couldn’t be more excited about it. I designed each pattern to be a big win for kids ages 6-11 (or older). I took all the best things I’ve learned from stitching with my kids and used them to build the perfect kit for both kid and parent. Let’s dive in and see what’s included with each kit.
If your kids are anything like mine, being patient is a big struggle. Waiting while you get their hoop all set up and the pattern traced is HARD. Having printed fabric is the perfect solution to this problem. With a printed pattern, starting your hoop is breeze. Simply tighten your fabric in the hoop and you are ready to stitch.
Best of all, printed fabric allows for more exciting designs without making the stitching too difficult. Each of the 4 designs above is stitched with 3-4 basic stitches. The stitches accent the print making the image jump off the fabric.
As a kid I LOVED bright colors. I couldn’t get enough of everything neon. As a parent, my kids are the same way. They always choose the brightest, sparkliest option. Consequently, I designed each hoop to have bright colors that pop. I even added sequins to two of the designs for extra excitement.
Both of the kits with sequins, come with instructions for attaching them in to different ways. One simple, and one a bit harder. Each kid gets to choose their difficulty level, and stitch in a way that works for them.
Like all Nel & Jo Crafts kits, each kid kit comes with all the supplies needed except scissors. Supplies include:
For the first time here at Nel & Jo Crafts, each kid pattern will come with access to a full video tutorial. I want every kid to feel empowered to stitch with as little assistance as possible. Reading instructions with new big words can be challenging. Not to mention being a non-crafty parent with crafty kids trying to explain what to do. Each video tutorial goes over each stitch several times, in real time. I cover any tips or trick I can think of while stitching. I also do my best to offer other options for stitches if they are on the more difficult side.
Molly Mermaid | Molly was designed for all the mermaid loving kids. Her big hair is especially fun to stitch and her sequins make her mermaid tail magical. Get your Molly Mermaid Kit HERE.
Tommy Truck | At our house we have two truck loving kiddos. I couldn’t make a set of kid patterns without making something for the kiddos who love all things with wheels. Tommy has some of the simplest stitches, while still being fun to work on. Get your Tommy Truck Kit HERE.
Sunshine & Rainbow | This kit is a special combination of fun textures and stitches. Each rainbow stripe is filled in with different lines, almost like a kid would do when doodling on a notebook. The clouds are made of woven wheels, which will make any kid feel extra accomplished. Get your Sunshine & Rainbow Kit HERE.
Danny Dinosaur | Danny might be my favorite kid embroidery kit. I couldn’t believe how amazing the sequins looked on his back! As a brontosaurus, he friendly but strong and impressive. Kids also get to be extra creative with the palm trees in the background. Get your Danny Dinosaur Kit HERE.
