In the Whimsical Flowers stitch along – week 1, we set up our hoop, stitch the flower stems, and stitch 4 yellow flowers. This weeks stitches are a great place to begin stitching. They set up a solid foundation for the rest of the hoop. Below you will find a short description for each day, and the accompanying video tutorial.
Learn how to set up your hoop, and trace the pattern to your fabric.
Today we learn to make the backstitch, detached chain stitch, and filled detached chain stitch. We also learn how to split floss and thread a needle the easy way.
For day 3, we finish the learning the stems while learning fly stitch and stem stitch.
Today we review the backstitch and learn French to make two flowers.
For the final day this week, we review detached chains and learn to make a straight puff stitch, one of my favorites for small petal flowers.
Remember, this is your hoop. You get to decide how fast or slow you work through your hoop. If you need a couple extra days or more to finish these videos, just keep working. It’s also okay to jump ahead if you see something you love and want to work on. I also want to remind you that I am always happy to answer any questions.
