In this post you will find links to all three parts of the video tutorial. Each part covers a different section of the hoop. All are stitched in real time, while I explain each step. The tutorial videos were created as I stitched on an 8″ hoop. However, the instructions and method are the same for both the 8″ hoop and the 4″ hoop. There a couple small differences between the two sizes and they are called out in the instructions as well as the Nativity Shepherds Tutorial video.
The videos below can be viewed here in this post or on YouTube. If you are viewing this on a phone, I recommend watching the tutorial in the YouTube app. This will allow you to use your full screen, and let you see all the little details.
Part 1 is all about stitching the sheep. I teach you how to make satin stitch, French knots, and detached chain stitch. We will work with 3, 6 and 12 strands of floss. I hope you love the texture created in the sheep.
In part 2 we move onto to the Shepherds robes. While stitching them, I teach you to make chain stitch, stem stitch, backstitch, and some accent stitches. The two shepherds are a reverse of each other. Where one is dark the other is light. Both have a little accent of gold.
For the third and final part, we will be stitching the headscarves, headbands, and the shepherds hook. I’ll be reviewing satin stitch and teaching raised fishbone, and whipped backstitch. By the end you will have finished stitching your shepherds hoop.

Thank you for making these videos. I’m new to embroidery and you have made me love it! I just adore your projects.
